DC DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE
Potomac, Maryland

DC Design House invited Bridget Beari Designs to transform the massive dining room in its 10th Annual charity showhouse to raise funds for the Children’s National Health System.

Inspired by a modern Parisian home, Bridget Beari Designs founder and principal Susan Jamieson created elegant intimacy within the stately space by layering lush textures, European antiques and modern custom pieces along rich wood furnishings from various periods and styles. Metallic grasscloth in “Roux” from Jamieson’s Bridget Beari Papers wallcovering collection is hung within molding panels for contemporary contrast to the home’s ornate millwork. A richly hued antique Persian rug pulls together the dining room’s delicious palette.

Mid-century chairs upholstered in plush Osborne and Little cobalt velvet surround a 10-foot custom walnut and brass-based dining table designed by Jamieson. A captivating collection of art including Parisian photography and pieces from the 1930s and 1960s along with contemporary works adds to the Parisian Modern mix. Gold also plays a key role in Parisian interiors and Jamieson added the Midas touch throughout. A Louis XVI mirror over the mantle; the gold-leafed side table and buffet legs and decorative items like brass obelisks and antique architectural pieces add golden glamour.

A dramatic ceiling treatment in Bridget Beari Colors “ Trifecta” and “Lady” sets the sultry mood. The doors are painted in “Lady” and outlined in “Trifecta”, adding even more dimension and personality. Julie Neill’s curvy plaster chandelier and funky table lamps lighten the formality with a hint of whimsy, as do Jamieson’s custom sculptural consoles. Luxurious floor-to celling custom silk drapery completes the look. Bon appétit!
