Our now empty nest returning clients purchased a newly built townhouse in Richmond, Viriginia. Downsizing from a large suburban home, they were excited to experience city life with less upkeep.

The four-story home had a modern, industrial style that our clients appreciated, but they wished for warmer, more personalized details. Overall, the design directive was for a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic and comfortable luxury. We worked closely with the couple to acquire original art that truly spoke to them.

The pieces then helped shape the home’s palette: a beautiful spectrum of blues and grays. In the living room, we added a custom floor-to-ceiling steel fireplace surround paired with a stunning abstract painting and sculptural chandelier. The curved sofa softens the lines and provides lots of comfy seating with skyline views. We upgraded the contractor lighting fixtures throughout to unique and modern statement pieces. In the main bedroom, we designed an oversized headboard from wood paneling to add drama and warmth.

The rooftop outdoor living space overlooking the James River was their dream come true, so we created an urban al fresco oasis. We added lush plants, outdoor artwork, fire pit table and sleek furnishings in an earthy, neutral palette which lets the stunning views take center stage
